Better late than never! Back at Anime Expo 2009, my comrade Kix of melon-pan.net and I were lucky enough to interview Imaishi Hiroyuki (今石洋之) and Nishigori Atsushi (錦織敦史) as representatives for NANA-NANA.net. You’d know them better as the director and character designer behind the fabulous Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (天元突破グレンラガン).
As I’m not too good with words, I left the interview in Kix’s hands and took photos. The process was like so: Kix asks question in English, translators relay it to Imaishi and Nishigori in Japanese. Imaishi and/or Nishigori answer in Japanese and it’s relayed back to us in English via translators. Kix recorded the interview just in case anything was lost in translation, but nothing seemed to be.

(info via U.Blog)
According to the initial rumors, there should be four more shows in the US that haven’t been announced yet. If those rumors are to be regarded as truthful, that is.
As for me, I’m definitely going to the San Francisco show. I haven’t been to The Fillmore in ages, but it’s a pleasant venue. A little ridiculous that the likes of Utada is performing in small clubs in the US, but I suppose I should be thankful and take what I can get!
Her birthday is January 19, so I might even give her a belated birthday gift (akin to what I did back in March).
The only crap thing is The Fillmore generally doesn’t allow photography, and they do some hardcore patdowns when you enter the building. I’m not sure how it is nowadays, but it does seem a little harder to enforce such a rule with all the technology we have at our disposal. In any case, my fatty D90 is not subtle whatsoever, so I might have to get in touch with people to get photos or just take my dinky Canon point-and-shoot.
UPDATE: Utada.com finally posted the information, along with an additional concert date (Boston, MA on February 5).
UPDATE 11/13: Just in the nick of time so Southern Californians don’t mistakenly buy tickets for the SF show, out comes the House of Blues @ Los Angeles, CA event. It’ll be on her birthday, January 19. For those going, please be sure to send lots of birthday wishes her way!

Sperry
Sperry Authentic Top-Sider Chukka boots in brown/houndstooth! Quite a mouthful.
I got these back in September, but I figure I should get good photos of them before they get ravaged in Japan. I originally intended on bringing my delicious Frye engineer’s boots, thereby forcing myself to be super fashionable, but I’m certain my legs will fall off. The boots are too heavy! I considered just being lazy with my usual pair of sneakers, but I saw these and fell in love.

Detail. I’m a big fan of houndstooth.
Just in case you’re wondering, I developed a phobia of wearing sneakers in December after having a nasty fall down a long escalator a couple years back. Boat shoes make me feel comfortable walking around slippery surfaces (in the event I need to worry about that in Japan!).
Almost wish I had waited a little while longer to get the Band of Outsiders x Sperry collab, but these probably suit me a bit better. The shoe nut in me is weeping that I missed that chance at any rate.

Nikon reading material

Currently getting to know my new hardware specs.

Might take a while since I’m new to the Nikon system, and this manual is plenty fat.

In other news, my long-awaited Sheryl Nome review will finally make an appearance now that I’ve got a camera capable of capturing its beauty! Guess I’ll have to strip her down again after all.

Baby pink monsoon headphones

No, you’re not experiencing déjà vu.
In a stroke of good luck, I won a random drawing AC Gears held for a pair of headphones through Twitter. I was amused for two good reasons: 1) I have a poorly rendered version of the headphones in my Twitter icon and 2) I already bought the headphones this past May from Audio Cubes, an AC Gears family site.

Pink generally isn’t my first choice for colors, but I’d much rather have this than the more popular green.
